Featured February Etsy Seller: OceansideCreations!

Oceansidecreations comes staight out of Maine, and her tastes are impeccable. Each piece that she makes is unique, elegant, and beautifully wire wrapped. She is a fairly new shop, but her items have the feel of a long time Etsian and an experienced jewelry designer. You should definitely look and see what this artist has to offer. She has awesome prices, too. You may view more of her work at her website, www.OceansideCreations.etsy.com

1. How long have you been making jewelry?

I've been playing around with jewelry making and crafts in general for as long as I can remember. I've always been pretty crafty, but I've just recently within the past year started to really focus on jewelry as a hobby/side business.

2. What made you decide to take your craft to Etsy?

I decided to start my shop on Etsy after making Christmas presents for all the ladies in my family this past year. Everyone loved that I was making jewelry and doing something I love, and encouraged me to sell my creations. I knew of Etsy, and after looking into it more thoroughly realized it would be a great community to be a part of. I found it very supportive and LOVE it!

3. Why do you think that buying handmade is important?

I love to buy handmade items. Living in a small community, I think it is important to support small business in general. It's great to know that an actual person put time and love into something instead of having something generic and mass produced. I love that when I buy handmade I know I am getting something unique and generally high quality. I also like to know I am supporting someone's hobby/business and the work that they love to do.

4. Where do your inspirations come from?

A lot of inspirations come from my love of nature and just being outside. Other times it comes from the time of year or an upcoming holiday, or if I know the person I'm creating something for I get ideas from what I know they like. Often I get ideas from trying new techniques and materials. And of course tons of inspiration comes from looking at the amazing work of my fellow Etsians.

5. Tell us something random about yourself:

I want to have a job traveling the world!

Ha ha! I'm glad you think a shoe fund is a good idea. I was worried about how silly it might come across :)

And thanks for participating in my blog giveaway! Looks like patent leather is winning right now!
